At the beginning of the conference, prime minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir gave a speech about the importance of developing democracies. Erik Overland, President of the WFSF welcomed the participants and spoke a few words about the importance of this topic that the conference covered. AI shaping the futures of democracies.

Róbert Bjarnasson. From Citizen Foundation. Róbert is a successful serial entrepreneur that started the first commercial web companies in Iceland in 1993 and 1995 in Denmark. In 2008 he co-founded the Citizens Foundation, a nonprofit, improving public decision-making with nonprofit civic tech. Before co-founding the Citizens Foundation, he worked in the online gaming industry where his team received many industry awards including two BAFTA awards for video games. Róbert has extensive experience with AI algorithms and 3D software spanning over 30 years.

Jerome is the co-founder and CEO of The Millennium Project (on global futures research) and lead-author report of The Millennium Project and 18 other State of the Future reports for the past twenty-five years. He was the Washington, DC representative for the United Nations University as executive director of the American Council for the UNU 1988-2007. He has over 50 years of Futures Research experience working for governments, international organizations, and private industry in Science & Technology Policy, Environmental Security, Economics, Education, Defense, Space, Futures Research Methodology, International Telecommunications, and Decision Support Systems with the Committee for the Future, Hudson Institute, Future Options Room, and the Millennium Project.

Siv Helen Hesjedal at These Ways is a professional futurist, sociologist, and development planner with close to 20 years’ international experience in foresight, public policy and regional development. She has worked as a C-suite executive, researcher, social planner, and facilitator in South Africa. Siv now resides in Norway and works for the German based Themis Foresight.

Hank Kune from Educore has over 40 years’ experience as facilitator, workshop & conference moderator, and developer of methodologies for innovation and change. Systemic and open innovation, orchestrating innovation ecosystems, and developing dedicated innovation-enhancing environments for cross-border collaboration are common themes of this work. He has also published extensively on these issues.
